6-week run

How it works

Four steps to live

1

Open entries before round one

Robin builds the sweepstake page in the week leading up to the opening fixture. Entry fee typically £5–£15.

2

Each entrant gets a random nation

England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Wales. With 6 teams and likely more than 6 entrants, teams are shared in rotation. Stage payouts split between shared-team entrants.

3

Pot pays per match win

Each of the 15 Championship matches triggers a payout to the entrants holding the winning side. Plus bonuses for Grand Slam, Triple Crown, and wooden-spoon booby prize.

4

Champion payout at the final whistle

Whoever drew the Championship winner takes the headline pot. Cause share paid out through the campaign, not just at the end.

Compliance notes

Specific defensible claims — no fluff.

  • 18+ entry verification built in at checkout
  • GDPR-compliant supporter data handling
  • Stripe Connect payments with full audit trail
  • Trustee-ready reporting on every sweepstake
  • Sweepstakes can run as free prize draws (entry buys participation + a charitable donation, not the chance of winning) or as Small Society Lotteries where the host holds the relevant council registration — Robin configures the right route
  • Play Fund Win is not affiliated with Six Nations Rugby Limited — provided as a generic UK fundraising mechanism for fans of the Championship.

PFW is not a Gambling Commission licensed operator — formats are configured to fit either a society lottery (where the host holds a licence or registration) or a free prize draw route. Robin will pick the right one for you.

FAQ

Common questions

How is a Six Nations sweepstake different from a Forecast Frenzy?
A Forecast Frenzy is skill-based — entrants predict scores and earn points across the Championship. A sweepstake is chance-based — entrants are randomly assigned a nation and win based on that nation’s results. Many rugby clubs run both side by side.
Do we need a licence?
Most Six Nations sweepstakes run as free prize draws — entry is a charitable donation that buys participation. Larger sweepstakes may need a Small Society Lottery registration. Robin will check.
How does the pot split work across 15 matches?
Common pattern: 50% across match-win payouts (~3% per match), 20% Grand Slam / Triple Crown bonuses, 30% Championship winner. Plus a small wooden-spoon booby prize. Robin’s wizard lets you adjust.
What if more than 6 people enter?
Teams are shared in rotation — entrants 7–12 share with entrants 1–6, and so on. Match-win payouts split evenly between entrants sharing the winning nation.
When are match-win payouts triggered?
Within 24 hours of each match result. Robin tracks the Championship table automatically and triggers each Stripe payout to the appropriate entrants.
Can a sweepstake run alongside our club’s membership fundraising?
Yes — Six Nations sweepstakes are time-limited (6 weeks) and won’t cannibalise ongoing membership or matchday fundraising. They’re additive seasonal income.
What about the Women’s Six Nations?
Same format works — the women’s Championship runs March/April and follows the same 6-team, 15-match structure. Many clubs run both as separate sweepstakes.
What does it cost?
Our standard fee is 15% of the total raised. No setup, no subscriptions.
