How does a World Cup sweepstake differ from a forecast / prediction game?

In a forecast game, entrants predict scores and earn points across the tournament — skill-based. In a sweepstake, entrants are randomly assigned a team and win based on that team’s results — chance-based. Both work; sweepstakes are simpler to run.

Does this work for the Women’s World Cup too?

Yes — same format, same Robin setup. The women’s tournament is also typically a 32-team field with group stage and knockouts. Some groups run both tournaments back-to-back as separate sweepstakes.

Do we need a licence?

Most office and school sweepstakes run as free prize draws — entry is a charitable donation that buys participation, not the chance of winning. Larger setups may need a Small Society Lottery registration with your council. Robin will check.

What if we have more than 32 entrants?

Robin allocates teams in rotation — entrants 1–32 each get a unique team, entrants 33–64 share teams with the first round, and so on. Stage payouts for shared teams are split evenly.

How is the pot split across the tournament?

Common pattern: 10% group-stage top performer, 20% across knockout rounds, 20% runner-up, 50% champion. Robin’s wizard lets you adjust. Some groups also include a "first team eliminated" booby prize.

When are stage payouts triggered?

Within 24 hours of each tournament stage closing. Robin tracks official results and triggers each Stripe payout automatically. No manual reconciliation.

Can entrants buy multiple teams?
