How it works

Four steps to live

1

Open entries before the opening ceremony

Robin builds the sweepstake page in the run-up to the Games. Entry fee £5–£20 typical. Choose Summer or Winter format.

2

Each entrant gets random nations

Robin allocates 1–3 nations per entrant from the competing list. Mix of medal-heavy favourites and outside chances — entrants stay engaged throughout the fortnight.

3

Daily medal-table payouts

Each gold won by a drawn nation = small payout. Silver and bronze worth less. Robin tracks the official medal table in real time and triggers daily Stripe payouts.

4

Medal-table jackpot at closing ceremony

Whoever drew the top medal-table nation takes the headline pot. Cause share lands throughout the Games plus a final closing payout.

Compliance notes

Specific defensible claims — no fluff.

  • 18+ entry verification built in at checkout
  • GDPR-compliant supporter data handling
  • Stripe Connect payments with full audit trail
  • Trustee-ready reporting on every sweepstake
  • Sweepstakes can run as free prize draws (entry buys participation + a charitable donation, not the chance of winning) or as Small Society Lotteries where the host holds the relevant council registration — Robin configures the right route
  • Play Fund Win is not affiliated with the IOC or any national Olympic committee — provided as a generic UK sweepstake fundraising mechanism for fans of the Games.

PFW is not a Gambling Commission licensed operator — formats are configured to fit either a society lottery (where the host holds a licence or registration) or a free prize draw route. Robin will pick the right one for you.

FAQ

Common questions

Does this format work for both Summer and Winter Games?
Yes — same mechanics, different cadence. Summer Games (around 200 nations, ~330 events, 17 days) and Winter Games (around 90 nations, ~110 events, 16 days). Robin configures the right structure for each.
Do we need a licence?
Most Games sweepstakes run as free prize draws — entry is a charitable donation that buys participation. Larger setups may need a Small Society Lottery registration. PFW is not Gambling Commission licensed.
How does nation allocation work with 200+ countries?
Robin allocates 1–3 nations per entrant, randomly across the field. Smaller groups (30 entrants) often get 3 nations each so the medal-table action is spread; larger groups (500+) get 1 nation each so allocations stay distinctive.
How are medal payouts scaled?
Common pattern: gold = 1% of pot per medal, silver = 0.5%, bronze = 0.25%. Plus a final medal-table jackpot (typically 40% of the pot) to the entrant holding the top nation. Robin’s wizard lets you adjust.
When are daily payouts triggered?
Each evening at a set cut-off time, based on official confirmed medal results. Robin tracks the official medal table and triggers Stripe payouts automatically.
What if there’s a medal-table tie at the closing ceremony?
Standard IOC tie-break rules apply — gold count first, then silver, then bronze. If still tied, the jackpot is split between entrants holding the tied nations.
Are individual events covered or just the medal table?
The standard format tracks the medal table only — simpler to run and easier for entrants to follow. Robin’s wizard supports optional event-specific sub-pots for groups wanting more detail.
What does it cost?
Our standard fee is 15% of the total raised — only when you raise.
