How it works

Four steps to live

1

Plan your prize ladder

A festive hamper. A cash headline (£250–£1,000). A weekend break or experience. 5–10 smaller prizes from local sponsors.

2

Open ticket sales in mid-November

Robin builds your Christmas raffle page in 10 minutes. Tickets sell online, at school gates, in church, or at home fixtures.

3

Promote through Advent

Weekly social posts. A countdown email each week. Reveal a new sponsor prize at a time. Build momentum into the final week.

4

Draw before Christmas Eve

Live-streamed or in-person — at your carol concert, end-of-term assembly or last home fixture. Winners notified by email and SMS, prizes paid out automatically.

Who it's best for

Designed for these communities

Schools and PTAs

Christmas raffles are the highest-engagement parent fundraiser of the year. Parents share in WhatsApp groups, tickets sell fast, sponsor prizes come from local businesses.

Churches and community groups

A natural fit for carol concerts and Advent services. Lower-effort than a full Christmas fair, higher raise per supporter.

Sports clubs and charities

Bolt onto your December home fixture or annual Christmas dinner. The seasonal moment makes the ask feel natural.

FAQ

Common questions

Do we need a licence to run a Christmas raffle?
It depends on your size and structure. Many schools, PTAs and small community Christmas raffles run as free prize draws (with a genuine free-entry route) or as incidental non-commercial lotteries at a specific event. Larger raffles typically run as Small Society Lotteries, registered with your local council (£40 fee, ~3 weeks). Robin will recommend the right route based on your specifics.
When should we open ticket sales?
Mid-November is the sweet spot. Long enough to build momentum through Advent, short enough that supporters feel the urgency. Most ticket sales come in the final 10 days.
What prizes work best for Christmas raffles?
A tiered ladder. One headline (cash, weekend break, premium hamper). A few mid-tier (smaller hampers, experience days, vouchers). 5–10 small prizes from local sponsors. Variety keeps everyone hopeful — and sponsor prizes mean no cost to your cause.
How do we get local businesses to sponsor prizes?
Each sponsor gets named on the raffle page, in winner emails and at the draw event. We supply a sponsor pack you can email to local businesses — most will donate a £20–£100 voucher in return for the visibility.
Where and when should we do the draw?
Tie it to a moment your community is already showing up for — the carol concert, end-of-term assembly, last home fixture before Christmas, or your festive social event. In-person or live-streamed both work.
Can we sell tickets after the draw opens?
Yes — supporters can buy tickets right up to the cut-off time on draw day. Most schools find about 40% of tickets sell in the final 48 hours.
What does it cost?
Our standard fee is 15%, taken off the top — what remains splits 50/50 between winner and cause. Grassroots clubs can pay what they feel. No setup, no subscriptions, no hidden charges. Card processing applies at cost (1.5% + 20p).
How quickly does the money land in our bank?
Direct via Stripe Connect, usually within 2–3 working days of ticket sales settling. You’ll have the funds before the new term starts.
