The RFL and Play Fund Win recently launched a new partnership to raise vital funds for Community Rugby League clubs across the country.
With the help of our digital raffle platform, the RFL hosted a nationwide draw in the lead-up to last Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final. As a result of the draw, 131 community rugby clubs will be receiving funds after entrants chose to support them when purchasing tickets in the Community Rugby League Raffle. This equates to well in excess of a third of all Rugby League clubs in the country.
The lucky winners to the final draw had cash prizes plus some fantastic additional prizes. These included Rugby League World Cup Final tickets and the chance to attend an England men’s, women’s or wheelchair training session as they prepare for this autumn’s World Cup on home soil.
The draw itself encouraged some healthy competition between Rugby League clubs, vying to be crowned the top fundraising club in the country. There were strong efforts from across our community, but it was Milford ARLFC in Leeds that came out on top of the pack and raised over £1,400 themselves!
Commenting on the success of the draw, John McMullen, National Clubs Manager, the RFL, stated: “The response from our clubs to the Community Rugby League Raffle has been incredible, with over a third of all Community Rugby clubs in the country set to receive funds.”
Dan Schofield, CEO, Play Fund Win, added, “We are delighted with how many clubs have been engaging with and promoting their draws, and we have seen a clear link between the most proactive clubs and the top fundraisers. The beauty of Play Fund Win is that we not only make raising funds for good causes simple and effective, but also provide a brilliant incentive to those who are generous enough to donate, by giving them the chance of being rewarded with cash and other prizes.”
As part of the partnership offering, we provided clubs with all the tools they needed to promote the draw. To find out more about staging your own draws for a regular income stream, click here or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
